Train and Elevator

In one of my recent posts, I mentioned

that I've been asking people who travel

to the prairies to bring back photos

of old wooden grain elevators.

Later that week, compliments of Bruce Sherman,

I received a grey day photo of Indian Head

Saskatchewan's big old giant.

Thank-you, Bruce!

  1. I love the abstractness of this piece Linny - the tight horizontals on the grain elevator contrasted with the looser verticals in the sky and the whole thing grounded by those bigger shapes sitting at the foot of the elevator.

  2. Linny, your color drenched paintings are an inspiration. I am so delighted to discover your work. You achieve the most outstanding color harmonies and lyrical compositions, thanks for sharing!!

  3. Linny, Love the grain elevator, what a wonderful series this could be! So different. The stark verticals, offset by the horizontal train and diagnal track is pure serendipty!

  4. Love the contrast with the teetering verticality of the structure and the horizontal motion of the train, seems like its pulling out the rug under the grain elevator.

  5. Your paintings have such life to them. I particularly love the coloration of the clapboards on the side of the structure on this one. Nice work.
