"Little Bad Boy Lighthouse" SOLD

From a recent sunny morning
Linnyland painting adventure at Witty's Lagoon.
I decided to paint the snow capped Olympic Mountains
with the Race Rocks lighthouse in front.
The lighthouse was too far away for me to see any of it's features
but I thought, "No problem, I've painted it before
and I can do it from memory". (Ha ha.)
When I finished painting I could see that something wasn't
quite right with the lighthouse tower.
It wasn't until I was back in my studio, and I had looked
through the binoculars at the Race Rocks Lighthouse,
that I realized I'd given the tower an extra white stripe.
Ah...that's why the little lighthouse
sports the "convict in striped pajamas look"!
So...after some concern and careful consideration
I've come to understand that the little lighthouse
hasn't done anything too seriously
bad or wrong - really, the only crime (if one can call it a crime)
that he committed
was that he wanted to be a little bit different -
and that might explain the reason that he stands out
from the crowd the way that he does.

  1. I love the title and the story and the beautiful resulting painting. I think this is one of my favorites of your lighthouse series.

  2. Gorgeous painting Linny,

I think the lighthouse is very brave to work in the midst of all that grandeur. I think I'd want an extra stripe too, and maybe a pair of very high heels. This is a magnificent work.

  3. Hi Linny!

The Little Lighthouse is not so bad,
He loves that stripe you gave him...
    That he never before had.
To live surrounded by that special view
And to have the attention of an artist like "You".
Causes him to stand taller and to still offer his Light,
To safely guide home ships on a dark, stormy night.
    How bad is that?
    Not so bad!

    A inspiring...joyful little gem Linny!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  4. I love it... that little lighthouse was too far away to see the details, so you just grabbed hold of him and dragged him closer. Lo and belhold, an extra stripe! He looks happy now amid all those blues and greens and even a bit of lavender... sweet.
