Big Sky - Burgoyne Bay

This is another one from a recent Salt Spring Island
 Linnyland painting adventure.
From my Burgoyne Bay/Linnyland hayfield perspective the sky
appeared to be framed by Mount Maxwell on one side
and Mount Sulivan on the other and
what I really wanted to do was lay on my back and paint
the amazing sky. Or I did, until the rain started to POUR down and easel, painting, pallet, brushes, backpack and painter performed an awkward but fast waltz for cover within good old Vinny Van Go.

"Little Bad Boy Lighthouse" SOLD

From a recent sunny morning
Linnyland painting adventure at Witty's Lagoon.
I decided to paint the snow capped Olympic Mountains
with the Race Rocks lighthouse in front.
The lighthouse was too far away for me to see any of it's features
but I thought, "No problem, I've painted it before
and I can do it from memory". (Ha ha.)
When I finished painting I could see that something wasn't
quite right with the lighthouse tower.
It wasn't until I was back in my studio, and I had looked
through the binoculars at the Race Rocks Lighthouse,
that I realized I'd given the tower an extra white stripe.
Ah...that's why the little lighthouse
sports the "convict in striped pajamas look"!
So...after some concern and careful consideration
I've come to understand that the little lighthouse
hasn't done anything too seriously
bad or wrong - really, the only crime (if one can call it a crime)
that he committed
was that he wanted to be a little bit different -
and that might explain the reason that he stands out
from the crowd the way that he does.

One Day Last Summer

This studio piece grew from,
'Late Afternoon - Lake Cowichan'
an en plein air painting from an
"one day last summer adventure" to Cowichan Lake.
(It was the afternoon that I swam amongst the
orange bellied newts.)
It's entirely possible that me painting this painting
may have inadvertently caused summer weather
to linger longer here in Victoria;
I was able to have breaky out on the deck
on the 4th of November - unheard of in our climes!
(Oddly, now that the painting is finished
the autumn weather has started...)

Evening Sky - Highrock

This little one is from a few whiles ago.
I was at Highrock Park in the late afternoon
and the pillowcase clouds lined up in a row
and said, "Hey, Linny, paint us!"

Cowichan River Gold SOLD

Here, in Victoria BC, it's a beautiful,
sunny and warm day.
So warm that this morning I enjoyed
breakfast outside on the balcony - in October.
Happy Thanksgiving Day in Linnyland!
This painting is from another recent warm day adventure,
further north on Vancouver Island, along the Cowichan River.
Thanks to all of my friends and patrons
and land of blog buddies for all of your
comments and support.
Wishing you all a beautiful day, too!

Rainbow Park Gold

This is another little one from
a recent road trip, painted in
the postcard beautiful Rainbow Park
at Alta Lake.
There I was surrounded by
beautiful mountains,
and yet, it was
trees that inspired me.

Tourmaline Morning - Trial Island SOLD

This little painting of the Trial Island Lighthouse
is one that I started last spring on an outdoor
adventure with the Al Fresco non-group.
Finally, this week, I added a bit more
paint to it.
(I remember that it was the morning of Good Friday
and there were Easter eggs on the ground
all around us as we set up on Anderson Hill.
While we painted a swarm of children
appeared and then disappeared along with the eggs.)
