"The Christmas Day Miracle Walk 2014"

As you may recall, one of our holiday traditions
is the "Christmas Day Miracle Walk".
While the festive meal cooks we enjoy a walk
where we look for Christmas miracles and most often
 discover them in nature.
For this year's CDMW the weather was sunny and
unseasonably warm - miracle number one!
As we wander the shoreline of Saxe Point Park
we spy a trio of otters just off shore.
One of the otters swims towards us and comes ashore
with a large crab in it's mouth.
While the onshore otter feasts the other two otters
swim around the point and out of sight.

Once the meal is finished the single otter returns
to the sea and starts to search and call for the other two.
Before long the otter calls sound more distressed
and still the other two otters are no where in sight.
The single otter swims back and forth along the shoreline,
it's calls louder and louder.

Finally the two missing otters reappear from around the point,
the single otter spies them and calls once more,
the three enjoy a playful reunion before they swim away.

Another Christmas, another magical CDMW!

Hope yours was magical, too!

"City Centre" SOLD

This is another painting commissioned
by the Downtown Victoria Business Association.
I wandered round and round the perimeter of Victoria's Bay Centre
and chose this view of the large centre,
(from Douglas Street and View Street).
As you can see, in Linnyland, the tree foliage
 was ahead of season
 and turned this scene to
the golden city center.

Moss Street Paint-In 2011

It was a Moss Street Miracle!
No, unfortunately the Parasol Model didn't make an appearance,
but there were about 30,000 other parasol models that did
because the 24th annual Art Gallery of Greater Victoria event
started out with rain pouring from the July sky.
(Setting up was funny/scary -
all squishy and cramped under a water proof tent.)
But then the miracle; the rain stopped,
the crowds of art lovers appeared, the sky continued to clear,
the paintings came out from under the tent (so did the painter)
and the sun came out as well!!
Thank-you to all of the visitors to Linnyland; friends, patrons, volunteers, organizers, fellow artists, Looky Lous, Looky Louises,
and everyone who did the sun dance with me, too. You're all
part of the miracle and success of
the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria's Moss Street Paint-In 2011
and I loved connecting with all of you!!
~
(Once the Paint-In had ended it poured rain again. Happily, I was homeward bound within Vinnie Van Go...)

Credit for the above "Linny photos" go to Jeffrey Boron who snapped the rainy set up shot. Check out his blog at http://www.jeffreyjboron.blogspot.com/ & Sharon Churchill who came by for a visit. Check out her blog at http://www.sharonspainting.blogspot.com/

~ And remember, it's always sunny and warm in Linnyland!!
