Summer Solstice Hay Field

This one is from a Linnyland out in the fields adventure
on the evening of the summer solstice.
I painted beneath the swooping Swallows,
the chattering Cowbirds and in front
of the Sheep who all offered me the same
unflattering commentary.

  1. Hello Linnyland!... This piece certainly exudes the sense of bliss that surrounded the scene and pushed on your sensory buttons!

I love the twisting and interplay between the various planes of light and colour! The painting almost has a stained glass... or kaleidoscopic feel to it Linny! Very mysterious... and invitingly so!

Good painting... and Happy Solstice to "You"!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  4. Beautiful Linny,

The swooping swallows reminded me of the swallows at our school house. They sometimes dive bomb us as we cross the field looking for blueberries.

  5. Lovely, and more abstract than some. I like the sunlight on the field at the crest of the hill and how it gives the hill even more shape as it rolls down to the field below.
Tell those sheep to mind their own business...

I like the roughness, makes me think of Van Gogh

  12. Thanks for the giggle, Donald! Thank-you for telling me that it comes across as abstract-ish, the sheep and I were concerned that it might not be seen that way.

  13. I agree with Donald. And, I love the light and the sense of deep shade in this. Really beautiful.

Hope you're having a wonderful summer!
