Wow, it's great that you could grab that image and paint it. Yes, very like a wood cut and also very Oriental which is an aesthetic which appeals to me. Not to mention the cat. Love it.
I'm a visual artist living in Victoria BC Canada. I paint in either acrylic or oil in what is described as "a visit to a dream" style and/or Linnyism. To me, the visual world is a beautiful combination of colors, shapes and light swirling together in rhythmic patterns that feel like a mixture of Robert Gordon's "I Want to be Free" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World".
