Prairie Gold

Here's another
in my grain
elevator series.
It's based on
one of the three
(as far as I know)
still standing
wooden elevators
of Mossleigh, Alberta.
"Prairie Gold"
oil on canvas
20 x 10

  1. Hi Linny,

I love these images, and they seem to capture a time when faith in the harvest was secure. They are such beautiful buildings. Gorgeous painting, beautiful light and colour.

  2. What a lovely building! Your images are always a little playful , so may I ask: Is the term "grain elevator" something that really exists or is it part make-believe, Linny? I only know the boring round ones.

  3. Hi there Prairie Princess!... What great fun your colourful... curvilinear "artistic take" on reality is Linny! So joyful and uplifting!

Art should be about "elevating" the human spirit! All of your work does that usually... but never better than with your grain elevators and lighthouses!

    Great stuff!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,

  4. Thank-you, Barbara, and happy harvest season to you!

  5. Thank-you, Marie! These grain elevator buildings really do exist (the ones that have survived) and at one time they were all across the prairies. The tall old wooden grain elevators are one of my few memories of the prairies - these ones in my series are a bit "Linnyismed" is shape.

  6. Hah! You make me laugh, Bruce! I've never been called a Praire Princess before but I quite like it! Thank-you for your tall, thoughtful and creative comments!!!

  7. Another spectacular work of gold from Linnyland! You make it look so easy, but I know you are painting masterfully and with joy. I love the way this one leans.

    Really well done.

  8. Thank you for sharing
    This fabulous work with us
    Good creations

  9. What beautiful paintings!
Thanks so much for leaving a comment on my blog.

  10. Thanks for visiting from Portugal, Skizo. Thank-you for your great comment, too!

  11. Thank-you for your very long and very lean comment, Melinda. I truly appreciate your thoughtful words!
