Evening Sky - Highrock

This little one is from a few whiles ago.
I was at Highrock Park in the late afternoon
and the pillowcase clouds lined up in a row
and said, "Hey, Linny, paint us!"

High Hopes

This one is the latest from
my grain elevator series
(these old wooden buildings are one of my
few memories of the prairies).
This one is a "sunny side of the tracks,
long and leaner".
Thanks to Erik and the Skiff, Alberta elevator

Cowichan River Gold SOLD

Here, in Victoria BC, it's a beautiful,
sunny and warm day.
So warm that this morning I enjoyed
breakfast outside on the balcony - in October.
Happy Thanksgiving Day in Linnyland!
This painting is from another recent warm day adventure,
further north on Vancouver Island, along the Cowichan River.
Thanks to all of my friends and patrons
and land of blog buddies for all of your
comments and support.
Wishing you all a beautiful day, too!

This is another little one from

the postcard beautiful Rainbow Park
at Alta Lake.
There I was surrounded by
beautiful mountains,
and yet, it was
trees that inspired me.

Late Summer Evening SOLD

This one is
from a recent adventure
atop Highrock Park as a
late summer storm approached.
I wish that I had at least three
more sets of hands along with
three more easels so that
I could have made an attempt
to capture all of the
changing and increasingly
intense colors.
As it was, I feel fortunate to have
been out painting on that
particular evening.
Plus, imagine how long
it would take to clean up eight hands,
four easels
and all of the brushes, too.

Wednesday night was great, thank-you
to all of my collectors and friends who attended!
'Life is good', truly good, having all of you in it
-including, you, my blogger friends.
This is the painting from
that lovely, lively, fun-filled evening at
The Gallery where Katie, from the suite above,
came by and said that she
has always wanted to live in a building that
was "cool enough that someone would
want to do a painting of it".

Gallery Treasure

I mentioned in my earlier post on this year's
Art Gallery of Greater Victoria Moss Street Paint-In
that I would post the painting
that I worked on during the event and this is it.
Each year at the Paint -In I have worked on a painting
of a building that is located somewhere along Moss Street
so, this year I decided to get a few reference shots
of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria from the angle of it's
beautiful Asian themed garden.
While I was in the garden getting the photos
I saw the door to the gallery open and I was delighted
to see, Mary-ellen, the co-ordinator of the Paint-In,
come through the door for a coffee break in the beautiful garden!
And, as I mentioned (approximately 30,000 times) during the
Paint-In, the gallery's special garden is a gentle place
to calm one's senses after the stimulation
of taking in all that there is to experience
during a visit to the gallery and/or
to the Moss Street Paint-In.

Last Saturday was
the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
23rd Annual Moss Street Paint -In. This year 140 artists
were invited by the gallery "to bring their studios to the street".
Each year there are approximately 30,000 in attendance
at this ever popular "crazy fun" art event.
Thank-you to all of my old and new friends
and collectors who stopped by to visit.
And welcome to the world wee, precious Juno
who, at 5 days old, attended her first AGGV Paint-In
and congratulations Janice and Darren!

Red Barn Ruckle Park

Happy Canada Day!
As I was getting set to do this post
I realized that, although I use red paint in just about
every one of my paintings, none of my recent
"hot of the easels" (that are photographed)
are red enough for Canada Day. So,this is one from
a few whiles ago, it's of a barn that's
at Ruckle Park on Salt Spring Island.

when I painted this one!)

Burgoyne Bay Barn

This one is from a recent adventure
to Salt Spring Island.
The old barn in this painting is in a field in
Burgoyne Bay Park which is at the base
of Mount Maxwell.
It was a grey sky afternoon as I painted yet, flying above me, there
were three varieties of swallows (Barn, Tree and Violet Green) and I had my
first dragonfly sighting of the year.
Plus, with the miracle of paint (in Linnyland), the sun
was shining on my canvas.

Mighty Memory

Recently I have been on a bit
of a grain elevator jag
that was initially inspired by my early,
(and nearly only), memories of the prairies. I painted this one
and afterwards I was
doing a little grain elevator research,
and discovered that this one, the Fleming, Saskatchewan elevator,
(built in 1895), was Canada's
oldest standing elevator on it's original site. That same evening
artist Barbara Muir left me a comment,
saying that she had heard sad news
of a fire that destroyed one of the old wooden elevators.
Tragically, it was the Fleming elevator.
The residents of Fleming had been working
to restore their historic elevator
and were nearly finished the restoration.
My heart goes out to the people of Fleming
on their devastating loss.

Sunny Day- Botanical Beach Bay

This one is a plein air from yesterday's
adventure to Botanical Beach Park.
It was a gorgeous day of
warm sunshine and fresh ocean air!
On the drive home, just when I thought
the day couldn't possibly get any more glorious
and even before I'd seen the brilliant orange sunset,
I had the good fortune
to see a Northern Pygmy - Owl.
(Seeing a Pygmy - Owl and seeing a movie in 3 - D
are two things that I have experienced
this month that have long been on my
large list of things that I have my heart set on
experiencing in this life time

Chinatown Pine SOLD

Sun Neen Fai Lok! /Happy New Year!
The year of the tiger starts today and Victoria's Chinatown
is decorated in preparation for the
new lunar year celebrations.
All along the streets there are large red lanterns
strung high above the cherry and pine trees.
The color red represents happiness and good luck
and the pine tree represents longevity and endurance.
Having a pine tree on your property
is said to bring good fortune,
